Abstract
Introduction: Comfort is a fundamental human need across all stages of life and has a multidimensional and holistic concept in healthcare. In this regard, the present study was conducted to evaluate the comfort of cardiovascular patients in the hospital based on Kolcaba's theory of comfort.
Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among cardiovascular patients hospitalized in Imam Ali Cardiovascular hospital in 2022 in Kermanshah using survey methodology and a questionnaire. 150 patients were selected based on convenience sampling and all subjects completed the comfort questionnaire. After collecting the required data, they were analyzed in SPSS Statistics V22.0, while P<0.05 was considered significant
Results: 150 participants including 84 men and 66 women with an average age of 55.94 ± 17.74 participated in this study. The findings indicated that the mean comfort score, as the main research variable in research units based on Kolcaba's criteria and the investigated questionnaire, was found to be 101.50 ± 12.50, ranging from 74 to 136. Furthermore, based on analytical findings, a statistically significant difference was observed between the mean comfort score and age, gender, marital status (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Considering the importance of patient comfort and also the existence of differences based on background variables, formulating and designing a suitable policy to increase comfort can be effective in increasing health and reducing costs.
